The Saxon Inn
The Saxon Inn is the perfect place to stay, whether you are visiting for business or leisure. Nestled in the heart of the North Dorset countryside in The Blackmore Vale, our establishment is a charming destination for those seeking picturesque landscapes and fine dining. We’re conveniently located close to the market towns of Shaftesbury and Blandford, as well as a range of other local attractions, including Hambledon Hill and the River Stour, where visitors are treated to stunning views in every direction.
Meet the Owners
Our passionate owners, Sarah and Richard, have plenty of experience in hospitality, and they can’t wait to welcome you to our cosy inn. Since training in hospitality management after finishing school, Sarah has owned multiple businesses in different industries. She came back to hospitality in 2022, having fallen in love with the industry all over again, now with years of valuable experience under her belt. High energy, enthusiasm, and attention to detail epitomise Sarah’s work ethic.
Richard, by contrast, worked as a deputy pub manager in the 1990s, which provided him with vital experience that has contributed to our success. After selling Land Rovers for fifteen years, he finished his car-selling career at Bentley in 2022, returning to hospitality. As well as being The Saxon Inn’s chief painter, decorator, handyman, and restorer, Richard loves to entertain and always ensures that our guests and patrons are totally satisfied with their visit.
The pair look forward to welcoming you!
Meet Our Friendly Staff
Reggi
Front of House and Guest Greeter
An indispensable member of the team, Reggi is The Saxon Inn’s designated guest greeter, also serving on the front-of-house team. A seven-year-old whippet, Reggi is friendly, curious, and always a sight for sore eyes. He loves chasing squirrels, although you’ll likely find him asleep by the fire, where he likes to tuck himself away throughout the day.
Herman
Apprentice Front of House and Guest Greeter
One of the newest members of the team is Herman, our resident dachshund and front-of-house apprentice in training. Only a puppy, Herman has a lot to learn, but he’s already proven to be a bit of a charmer with our guests and diners. While full of beans and always on the go, he’s keen to improve with some help from Reggi…although he can always squeeze in time for a belly rub.
